Product Safety Australia have recalled the Wedgwood Peter Rabbit Silver Plated Baby Rattle due to a potential choking hazard.

The Wedgwood Peter Rabbit Silver Plated Baby Rattle is a Silver Plated Baby Rattle ("Rattle) Giftware that has a bunny shape and 'hop little rabbit, hop hop hop' on the rattle ends. Rattle is a keepsake baby rattle consisting of a silver plated main body and ends, on a zinc alloy base with four iron 6-8mm beads positioned two in each end. The Rattle is constructed by gluing the ends to the main body. The Rattle is sold as, and intended for use as, decorative giftware.

The defect is that if the item comes into contact with water or is subjected to pressure, seams on the Rattle may open, releasing small round beads.

If the defect occurs, the beads could potentially pose a choking hazard to young children.

The rattle was sold at the following retailers:

  • Myer
  • David Jones
  • Minimax
  • Habitat
  • DFO Outlets

Consumers should return the product to the retailer for a refund.
