Parks, Ovals and Skateboard Ramps

Keen Teens! 12-14 years old

As your child enters their early teens `play' evolves into a different form. Young people need direction and structure to encourage active pursuits. They may need an element of competition and challenge. Seek out organisations or facilities within the local community that can support recreational and social activities.

Skateboard parks can also provide great active play opportunities for many `Keen Teens'. It is important to check out local parks and find one where the other skaters are similar in age and ability to your child. That way they can learn from each other without having to compete with more able or older skaters who may have little tolerance for younger beginners.

Remember to reinforce communication and planning so that you and your child know where they are going, with whom and what time they are expected to return.
