School Rules! - 9-11 years old

Children should be seated in the back seat of cars until they are at least ten years old. Continue to enforce safe seating practices and using the safety door (passenger side door) to enter and exit the car.

Children can move from a booster seat to the adult seat belt alone once a good fit can be achieved. This is usually when they are about 145cm tall and the adult seat belt fits low across the hip bones and the shoulder strap passes the middle of the shoulder, not across the neck. The lap belt should not ride up over the soft abdomen.

Children will begin to develop an interest in road rules and your reactions to situations in traffic. Take the time to talk to your children about driving safety, road rules and driving etiquette. Bicycle Education Centres are a great way for children between 9-11 years to learn the road rules.
